Stress and Oral Health
Abnormal levels of stress are known to affect your physical health, but what about your oral health? During times of stress the body can respond in multiple ways. Stress can involuntarily cause you to clench and grind your teeth, increase the risk of getting canker and cold sores, and increase dental plaque.
Being under stress can affect your mood and cause you to neglect your normal oral healthcare habits. You may also develop unhealthy eating habits. All of these factors can contribute to increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
